Which calendar should I use?

Use the calendar your birth date is written in. Nepali official documents usually use BS; international documents use AD. Both produce the same age.

How is age calculated?

Years are counted from the anniversary of your birth. The result shows completed years, months, and days - not rounded.

Why does a BS birth date need conversion?

The Bikram Sambat calendar runs ~56.7 years ahead of AD. To compute age it's converted to a real calendar day first, then the difference is measured.
