How do I select page ranges visually?

Click a page to select it. Shift+click another page to select everything in between. Ctrl+click (Cmd+click on Mac) to toggle individual pages.

Can I type ranges manually?

Yes - switch to the 'Type ranges' tab and enter patterns like 1-3, 5, 7-10.
